“Fashion math” & How we are using it
What is fashion math?
We just came across this concept, and we love it to help us level up style! If you’ve been on social media lately, you’ve probably seen reels on “Girl Math”, but have you seen Fashion Math? The concept is that each item of clothing is worth a certain amount of points and once it all adds up you have fully styled an outfit. According to our sources, here is how it works:
Fashion math is an 8-point system. The ideal number of points for any outfit should range from 6 to 8 with each clothing item assigned a point value. Most pieces are worth a point each with statement pieces having 2 points like prints & and patterns, or an oversized jacket. Accessories are also worth a point each unless they are BOLD like a well-designed hat, statement jewelry, or oversized sunnies. Think of it this way, whatever pieces draw more attention to your outfit is worth more points. Lastly, your personal everyday jewelry doesn’t count as points such as dainty earrings or bracelets.
Remember, the 8-point system is not about rating your looks it is more about ensuring that your outfit as a whole isn’t over or underwhelming.
We are so into this, let us know what you think! Will you be trying the 8-point system next time you style an outfit?
